Dian Hong (滇红), a popular Chinese black tea from Yunnan province, is named after the ancient state of Dian. This variety, known as "Honey Dian Hong," reflects sweet notes in its flavor profile.
Though relatively young, with a history of just 90 years, Dian Hong was developed to compete with Indian and Ceylon teas on the global market. Today, it enjoys worldwide popularity. The secret lies in its sourcing from large-leaved tea trees, specifically the Assam variety, which imparts strength and pleasant astringency.
The leaves for this Honey Dian Hong are harvested from rare local cultivars in the Mengku region, offering a unique bouquet distinct from traditional Dian Hongs.
Aroma: Spicy and sweet, with hints of honey, chocolate, and jam.
Flavor: Smooth and rich, with a deep, bready character and dried fruit notes, balanced by a pleasant astringency. It leaves a velvety aftertaste.
Effects: This tea provides familiar comfort and invigorating effects, often classified as black tea in Europe. Unlike plantation black teas from India, Dian Hong is made from robust leaves collected from mountain tea trees, which have a more developed root system, allowing them to absorb more minerals and microelements from the soil.
Honey Dian Hong warms, energizes, and uplifts the mood. It's rich in vitamins and antioxidants, beneficial for cardiovascular health, promotes circulation, aids digestion, and supports fat metabolism. Thus, it’s perfect for morning tea or after meals, especially in colder weather or while enjoying nature.
Harvest: Spring 2025, Mengku region, Linzang County, Yunnan Province, China.
Brewing Instructions: This tea is versatile for brewing. Need an energy boost at work? Just toss a pinch of leaves into a cup and pour boiling water over them. Want to share tea with friends? Use a gaiwan or an Yixing teapot, as each infusion will delight with its evolving flavors and aromas. Use boiling water—Honey Dian Hong is almost impossible to overbrew; it simply becomes brighter, richer, and more invigorating.

from 50 reviewsim very satisfied with the cup, 😊 thanks
I bought Rou Gui Gao Shan at Tea Gallery, and it pleasantly surprised me with how it evolves over multiple infusions. By the third brew, the aroma becomes fuller and deeper, revealing a rich body with gentle sweetness, subtle berry notes, and light woody undertones. The classic Rou Gui profile—often associated with cinnamon-like spice, warm minerality, and a distinctive “rock” character (yan yun)—is present here as well, but in a smooth and well-balanced way. The aftertaste is long, with a refined balance between warmth and freshness. It’s the kind of tea that truly shines over extended sessions—perfect for long, relaxed evenings in good company.
This tea is honestly GOATed. We call it "endless / infinite tea", just because of HOW MUCH you can extract from it... With the right conditions and not too hot of a water, we've been genuinely drinking it for hours, and I feel like we never fully finished it... definitely worth it's money
Best tea place in Limassol 🔥
Прекрасный чай. Всем советую заглянуть в этот магазинчик.
Bought it as a gift to my dear friend, and he’s now the happiest man on earth. He rates it as “10 out of 5” and “every day I use it, and every day I’m happy”
Genuinely one of the best red teas I’ve ever tried. The texture, the aroma and the flavour is just outstanding. It is visually pleasing, lasts for many infusions, and a bit expensive
Очень приятный вкус, тонкий аромат, мягкое расслабление без сонливости
